Context

We are seeking a highly experienced DevOps professional with a strong background in large-scale corporate environments to join our client active in the insurance sector. The successful candidate will join the Engineering Excellence team within the Technology Office, working closely with various stakeholders including the CTO, IT ComDir, FinOps & DevOps Community, Service Transition & Operations, and other key members.

Description

The main objective is to analyze and evaluate the current DevOps practices of the IT department, identify opportunities for improvement, and streamline processes. The candidate will develop and present a formal change proposal to senior management, securing approval for the proposed enhancements. Additionally, the candidate will implement these improvements, align the DevOps community with the new practices, and promote a robust DevOps culture through effective change management strategies.

Role and responsibilities

  • Analyze Current Practices: Evaluate the current DevOps practices in comparison to industry standards.
  • Develop Change Proposal: Create and present a formal proposal to senior management, articulating the rationale for enhancements.
  • Implement Improvements: Execute the approved changes, ensuring cohesive adoption within the DevOps community.
  • Promote DevOps Culture: Foster a culture of collaboration between development and operations teams to improve software delivery and infrastructure changes.
  • Deliverables: Produce a comprehensive deck with industry principles, AS-IS processes, SWOT analysis, transformation plan, and roadmap. Provide bi-weekly progress reports and presentations to ComDir IT.
  • Out-of-Scope: Exclude OpenPaaS as a platform in 2025, group study on CI/CD, FinOps, new tools, and organizational structure.
  • Training and Development: Define and execute a training plan for DevOps, ensuring all team members are up-to-date with the latest practices and tools.
  • Community Engagement: Animate the DevOps Community, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Feedback Loops: Establish and maintain feedback loops to create continuous improvement in processes and practices.
  • Metrics and Monitoring: Implement observability metrics during design, development, and production phases to monitor system performance and reliability.

Profile

  • Experience: Proven track record in large-scale corporate environments, with expertise in DevOps practices and principles.
  • Skills: Strong analytical, documentation, and presentation skills. Ability to drive cultural and organizational change towards DevOps practices. Experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, deployment support, and quality assurance processes.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with cloud platforms, infrastructure as code, and platform engineering. Understanding of DevOps tools and best practices.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of French and/or Dutch is a plus.
  • Attributes: Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Ability to collaborate effectively with software development and operations teams.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in DevOps, cloud platforms, or related fields are a plus.
