In this journey, managing our digital/IT assets plays a key role : alignment between IT assets and business strategy, cost reduction and a tailor-made strategy able to address fast evolving market needs become crucial requirements.

Entreprise architecture will be the corner stone of this transformation, embedding in bpost organisation 2 strategic objectives and strenghening one more :

1. IT cost reduction : this objective focus on how to reduce IT costs by elimination of duplicate IT assets, adoption of new technologies/architectures, finding redundant IT assets, halting cost demand projects with less business contribution then other projects, retire high cost technologies, reduce IT complexity.

2. IT planning : this objective contains any planning such as creation of 5 years IT roadmaps (align IT to business), dealing with Business Continuity Planning and Disater Recovery Planning, planning for Merge & Acquisitions, adopting new technology such as cloud computing, integrating new technology,

3. IT optimization : for this objective, Enterprise architecture is used to increase up time of IT services and reduce the duration of time for analysing, designing and developping new IT solutions. Enterprise Architecture contribution to this objective is based on the relations that was collected and modeled.

The Entreprise Architect role is to build an overall vision of the company Information Systems, including strategy, processes, technical and functional architecture, and the IT roadmap. He also ensures a technical watch and is the force of proposition in the transformation of the IT.
The architect works closely with different business and technical partners throughout the project life cycle to ensure that the proposed technical solutions match the objectives, but also to ensure that both parties agree to meet the companys more comprehensive and long-term goals on vision and sustainability.
