Context
Our client is responsible for managing the electricity and natural gas distribution networks in Brussels area. With over 1,000 employees, the organization ensures the daily energy supply for hundreds of thousands of households and businesses. Its Digital Business Solutions (DBS) department supports all business activities through innovative projects, ensuring an autonomous IT system aligned with evolving needs and technologies.
Within DBS, the Data Acquisition (DAQ) team—part of the Market & Metering unit—develops and adapts solutions to meet internal customer needs, optimize business processes, and enhance user experience. The team, composed of around ten professionals, focuses on configuring and developing applications related to meter data collection.
The current context includes:
- The implementation of a federal platform for managing market exchanges.
- The rollout of new smart meter types.
- The integration of local energy production (e.g., solar panels).
- The adaptation of the market model to electric vehicles.
- The replacement of the platform used by meter readers for analog gas and electricity meters.
Description
To support ongoing projects, our client is seeking a Functional Analyst specializing in data acquisition. The primary application will be the Meter Data Management (MDM) system—EnergyIP—so in-depth knowledge of this system is essential.
Role & responsibilities
- Work primarily within the team supporting the MDM system.
- Analyze business requirements, lead discussions, and organize workshops to identify and align on solutions.
- Define solutions in line with IT architecture, considering the end-to-end application and technology chain.
- Validate proposed solutions with business stakeholders.
- Review and validate deliverables from external partners.
- Oversee deliverables from requirements through to commissioning.
- Respond to functional questions during the development phase.
- Assist in documentation and execution of tests; coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Evaluate, analyze, and document identified bugs; ensure follow-up and resolution during testing and UAT phases.
- Ensure alignment between business requirements and the final solution.
- Challenge supplier-proposed solutions when necessary.
- Acquire functional knowledge of applications to serve as a reference point within the organization.
- Maintain up-to-date functional documentation for the applications under your responsibility.
- Support change management to facilitate user adoption of new solutions.
- Provide second-line support for incident and problem resolution.
Profile
- Proven experience as a Functional Analyst in a complex IT environment (at least 5 years).
- You are in possession of a Master Business Analyst or Informatics Diploma.
- You have an experience in the energy sector with specific preference of DGO’s in Belgium.
- You have an experience with EnergyIP.
- You have a knowledge of ITIL Framework.
- You have a proven experience with SQL.
- Skilled in leading workshops, documenting requirements, and proposing effective solutions.
- Languages: EN + FR + NL
